Vibration Plate
Wouldn't ya know!!
I can’t tell you how much I love my “Shaker”, as we lovingly call it. For how much it helps, it is a wonder why my neurologist did not suggest this. it is always my "go-to".
I did the research for this item a long time ago, but I will tell you what I remember. Touted among the regular folk for weight loss and lymphatic cleansing or clearing and increasing blood circulation; it is useful for all. But for Parkie’s, I think it’s special.
As it turns out there are different types of vibration for the body. A back-and-forth movement and a figure 8 type movement. The Hurtle is the machine that I researched. It offers that figure 8 type movement and is affordable.
Whether I am moving too much due to uncontrollable dyskinesia or all rigid and stiff due to the disease, it is relieving to “shake”. Giving my body purposeful movement allows me to relieve my symptoms enough to actually do small things like pull up my pants at the waist, straighten out my blouse and even do exercises. I like to do toe lifts, squats, sumo sits, and out stretch my arms.
The effects seem to last, and I do it every day. I am so glad that I stumbled on to this tool! This is a must have, especially early in your journey. It helps break up the monotony of not being able to move like you want.
Trying to talk while you’re shaking it another story!
